At ICM we are dedicated to providing the very best in diagnostic medical imaging. Accordingly, we have equipped our facility with the latest technology in imaging equipments including digital X-ray, ultrasound, DEXA (Bone Density) scanner, and nuclear camera. Our "filmless" X-ray equipment is one of few in Southern California. It is a completely digitized system whereby all X-ray films are stored in a digital format. There are no film chemicals. Furthermore, the waiting time for our patients is reduced by more than half since they do not have to wait for film development. The images taken are instantly shown on a monitor. All of the images from our equipments are digitally stored. Result reporting by our radiologists is completed within 24 hours and delivered to referring physicians.

X-ray and General Radiology
We offer general radiology in our dedicated X-ray room. With the installation of digital technology, we are able to acquire images and view them instantly. This provides our radiologists more efficiency in generating reports. Moreover, patients experience shorter time in undergoing X-ray procedures.
Nuclear Medicine Imaging
Nuclear Medicine is a highly specialized area of diagnostic medical imaging.

Nuclear medicine imaging tests allow the imaging and assessment of various organs in the body, including the heart, kidneys, liver, lungs, bone, as well as thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal glands. Additionally, this imaging modality allows for the visualization of blood cell activity in identifying hidden infections and bleeding in the various areas of the body.

Our dual head Siemens E-Cam nuclear camera offers the latest technology in nuclear imaging. It is top-of-the-line and state-of-the-art equipment. We have a dedicated, full-time, licensed and registered Nuclear Technologist in delivering the very best service.

Nuclear Cardiac Diagnostics
Myocardial Perfusion study is one of the leading noninvasive diagnostic procedures in cardiology to diagnose and/or for risk assessment of patients with coronary artery disease. Stress testing can be performed to evaluate blood flow to the heart muscle. Stress testing is performed by doing treadmill (as shown in the adjacent picture) or by pharmacological infusion with Adenosine, Dobutamine or Persantine. Physicians use cardiac nuclear medicine studies to help diagnose various cardiac conditions:
  • To evaluate the presence of coronary artery disease.
  • Unexplained chest pain.
  • Chest pain brought on by exercise (Angina).
  • To visualize blood flow patterns to the heart muscles and walls (Myocardial Perfusion Scan).
  • To evaluate the extent of injury to the heart muscle following a heart attack (myocardial infarction).
  • To evaluate the results of bypass surgery or other revascularization procedures performed to restore blood supply to the heart.
  • To assess heart muscle and wall movement as well as overall function (in conjunction with an EKG) with a technique called cardiac gating.

  • Ultrasound
Ultrasound is a specialized examination that uses high frequency (ultra) sound waves to visualize internal organs and vessels. General ultrasound exams include abdomen, liver, obstetric, thyroid, kidney, bladder, gonads, prostate, as well as other small body parts. Cardiovascular ultrasound exams include echocardiogram, arterial and venous arms and legs, carotid, and the aorta. Our ultrasound technologists have significant training and experience.
    Bone Densitometry (DEXA)
DEXA examinations are done to look for osteoporosis. Osteoporosis is weakening and softening of the bones in the body as a result of significant bone density/mass loss. Women are at the highest risk for osteoporosis once they go through menopause. However, men can also develop osteoporosis. A DEXA exam is very quick and easy. Patients will lie on their backs on a table that will scan the lower back & one of the hips. Calculations based on the images taken will be evaluated by the radiologist and a report will go to the referring physician. This report will have one of three possibilities: osteoporosis (high risk for bone fracture), osteopenia (high risk for going into osteoporosis), or normal. Medical treatments to increase bone density/mass are indicated for those diagnosed with osteoporosis or osteopenia.

Most insurance plans cover DEXA exams every two years if a patient has a risk factor such as menopause, long term steroid use, shortening of stature, etc. Yearly examinations are indicated for those who have already been diagnosed with osteopenia or osteoporosis.
    Pulmonary Laboratory
Pulmonary function testing allows the detection of an underlying lung disease. Our center performs this test utilizing the most up-to-date technology, including the capacity to perform "body box" measurements. This study allows the accurate measurement of lung function, including breathing, volume and oxygen diffusion capacity.

We also offer cardiopulmonary exercise physiology diagnostics. During testing, patients walk briskly on a treadmill while breathing into the pulmonary function equipment and while connected to an EKG and pulse oximeter (for recording blood oxygen levels).

This study assesses the body's ability to exercise and detects for any exercise limitations caused by diseases affecting the lungs, heart or muscles.
